The stunning horseshoe-shaped bay has quickly become one of the top beaches in Sri Lanka, and one can say it is the recent discovery in the south coast. This newest addition is yet to discover by many visitors therefore hurry and visit this before it becomes crowded (a little tip from us). This beautiful paradise is covered from greenery which makes it a paradise at first place. This is a beach where jungle meets the sandy golden shore (Golden shore is one of the reasons which makes this place picture perfect) while palm trees hanging around the beach.

The bay is fairly protected from wind and swell throughout the year, which makes it a wonderful swimming spot all year round. Hiriketiya also offers a number of waves that are suitable for all kind of surfers (beginners to advanced). This spot is ideal for surfers and you can rent surfing boards from the bay itself for cheap prices (surprisingly). There are a number of surfboard rental shops on the beach. If you are not a surf lover, fear not, this is the best place to chill watching the sunset light up the sky in the evening or watching the surfers in action and enjoy the good vibes. There are many awesome spots to hang out such as beach front bars/food shack, hipster restaurants and quirky cafes dotted along the beach.

This little beach town is located in Dikwella, in the southern coast about an hour drive from Matara. After reaching to Dikwella take a right to the Hiriketiya road and there you go to the beach. It is little bit difficult to find the road since its not pretty much famous yet, but it won’t be much longer until tourism really builds up here. Hiriketiya Beach, also called Hiri Beach is a paradise with little bit of everything, therefore, do not forget to add this beauty to your itinerary if you are a beach lover. Also be an environment friendly traveler by avoiding use plastic and polythene in your trip. Lets protect our beautiful beaches!
